The Assistant Controller Manages the Accounts Receivable and Payable functions of the Hotel. Supervises the Accounting office staff. Prepares monthly financial schedules and analysis of the Hotel. Prepares special analyses as directed by the Controller
Oversee all operating practices, polices, sustainable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and systems that are necessary for achieving the departments and hotels strategic and business plan goals
Demonstrate strong and dynamic leadership traits to successfully manage member issues, governance, committee guests and employees. Display a positive can-do attitude at all time
Can effectively achieve deadlines on all work while requiring the same standard of the Accounting team.
Specific Job Accountabilities:Manage the month-end close process.
Assume responsibility for all journal entries and automated activity recorded to the financial statements. Distribute reports with monthly results and budget variances to department heads.
Automate processes within the hotels accounting operating system.
Assist Controller with preparation of the monthly financial statements
Treasury: Manage the daily cash transfers; manage the investment accounts; manage the bank reconciliation process and review and approve each bank reconciliation monthly.
Receivable Collections: Develop and implement a process to contact guests with an aged balance of 60-days or more on a timely basis.
Budget and Forecast: Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecast process. Support the Controller to run reports to provide to department heads to prepare budget
Prepare daily sales and dashboard reports for management.
Prepare all statistical monthly financial reports, guest reports, food and beverage costs, sales, revenue, rooms, occupancy, average rate, etc.
Reconcile daily bank balances and daily bank drops.
Generate Accounts Receivable delinquency reports for the Controller
Reconcile write-off accounts, no show accounts. Has discretion to extend payment terms.
Attend monthly finance meetings and prepares minutes.
Administer all disciplinary warnings; recommend other employee discipline.
Generate banquet booking space and sales reports.
Assist with weekly reconciliation of tax exempt banquets and guest rooms.
Perform Front Office cash bank audits
Manage direct reports; Review significant work of direct reports
Prepare and implement professional development plans for direct reports and annual fiscal goals.
Interview and recommend hiring of full time staff.

Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance; or a combination of education and experience.
Minimum of eight (8) years experience managing an Accounting team, preferably in a high-end facility and CPA license.
Previous hotel experience as Assistant Controller required, preferably within a union property.
