We are seeking a highly qualified in vitro scientist and leader with extensive experience in biochemical and cellular assays for target validation and in vitro pharmacology. The successful candidate will have expertise in biochemistry and/or enzymology and will be a primary lead as it relates to biochemical assay development and small molecule screening. Additional experience with cellular assays is important. Applicants must feel comfortable with the fast pace of a small biotech company and have the flexibility to work on multiple projects.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated lab operations manager who will manage the day-to-day laboratory operations and support ongoing improvements and expansion. The successful candidate will ensure continual lab hygiene policies compliance, including overseeing lab safety, organization, storage, space allocation and waste management. In this role, the lab operations manager will work with across all scientific departments to develop, implement, and maintain SOPs necessary for safety compliance, training, maintenance, calibration, and repair. As part of the facilities department, lab operations will work closely with procurement on budgeting and ordering of lab supplies. This dynamic role will include continual feedback on lab efficiency, operations and policies as well as shepherd any needed changes

Your Role in Navigating the Maze:
  • Develop, scale, and enforce lab safety policies to ensure consistency across the workforce, including EH&S and other safety protocol training to ensure compliance with relevant local, state and federal regulations
  • Act as MAZE's EH&S liaison working with our 3rd party contractor
  • Recommend and implement technical changes and improvements in lab areas and participate with vendors and representatives to maintain equipment services and other contracts
  • Oversee lab equipment maintenance, calibration, inventory and supplies, refrigeration, space allocation, and cleanouts
  • Lead handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals, biowaste and medical waste
  • Assist in orchestrating and executing facility move

Your Navigation Tools:
  • BS or higher degree in life sciences with 5+ years' experience in lab operations, preferably in industry environment
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience establishing and managing lab set-up and ongoing operations
  • Hands on knowledge in lab and workstation design, set up and relocation
  • Experience relocating lab equipment, chemicals, biologics, radiation, vivarium, and temperature sensitive samples and reagents
  • Up to date thorough understanding with local, state and federal government bodies that mandate lab safety and EH&S policies
  • Excellent analytical and flexible skills to understand complex lab issues and provide solutions with tight deadlines
  • Experience with CRO's is a plus; experience in implementing and maintain data systems is a plus
  • Experience with calibration, HPLC validation, mass spectrometry is preferred
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a team-oriented attitude
